Advocacy

Womankind advocates can help survivors of gender-based violence navigate through the complicated systems that they might have to work with, such as getting financial, housing, medical, police or legal assistance. This occurs internally within Womankind and with external partners and government agencies. Engaging in advocacy work helps everyone understand survivors’ rights, learn about available resources, and raise awareness regarding the impact of gender-based violence. Some examples of advocacy support for survivors can include completing an application for public assistance, accompaniment to a precinct to file a police report, or contacting attorneys for updates on a case.
