Hear Our Voices 2025: A Virtual Art Exhibit Where Survivors Envision Unwritten Futures
The spirit of imagination and resilience defines Hear Our Voices: Unwritten Futures, Womankind’s sixth annual online art exhibition. Launched in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this year’s showcase brings together a powerful collection of artwork online from survivors of gender-based violence, allies, and community members—each piece a reflection on what it means to heal, rebuild, and begin again.
Art has long been part of Womankind’s mission to help survivors build a path to healing by centering them and creating safe spaces for expression. When the first Hear Our Voices virtual art exhibit launched in 2020—amid the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and a rise in anti-Asian violence—it became more than an art project. It was a lifeline. Over the years, it has evolved into a platform where creativity meets community, and where stories once silenced find their way into the light.
This year’s theme, Unwritten Futures, invites participants to envision a world beyond harm—one defined by choice, safety, and possibility. Through painting, photography, digital art, and mixed media, contributors share deeply personal artwork that reflects the journey of reclaiming voice and agency. Some works capture quiet resilience; others pulse with color and movement, echoing the energy of new beginnings. Together, they form a collective vision of what healing can look like when imagination leads the way.
More than a virtual art exhibit, Hear Our Voices is an ongoing dialogue between survivors and the communities that stand beside them. Visitors are encouraged to experience Hear Our Voices at their own pace, allowing each piece of artwork online to unfold its story slowly. Together, these works remind us that recovery is not about erasing the past, but about imagining the future on one’s own terms.
