Womankind is organizing and participating in events all month long to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence. Join us in creating a future where we Rise Above Violence and our communities can innovate towards collective well-being, restoration, and social justice!


Wednesday, April 5: SAAM Day of Action


About the Event: Prompted by a recent sexual violence incident in Sunset Park, Womankind, in partnership with The Healing Center and NYC Council Member Alexa Aviles, will be handing out resources outside the 36th Street subway station. Womankind will be handing out helpline cards as well as bilingual flyers in English and Chinese, which dispel myths on common misconceptions about sexual violence, dynamics and consent.

Friday, April 14: Teen-Led Discussion on Gender-Based Violence


About the Event: Prompted by a recent sexual violence incident in Sunset Park and in efforts to raise awareness, we invite youth of all levels of understanding to join their peers in learning and reflection on topics such as domestic violence, teen dating violence, and breaking common misconceptions about sexual assault. Youth from Womankind and The Healing Center will be collaborating to facilitate discussions during the event.

Friday, April 14: KAFSC Rally Against Sexual Assault


About the Event: KAFSC (Korean-American Family Service Center) and its Youth Community Project Team will be hosting its Rally Against Sexual Assault at Queens Borough Hall in partnership with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. Join Womankind and many other community organizations at 11AM as we combat sexual and gender-based violence within our communities and honor Assemblymember Nily Rozic with the Catalyst Award for her commitment to seeking justice for survivors of sexual assault.

Wednesday, April 26: Denim Day NYC Rally


About the Event: Denim Day NYC started in 2010 with a collaborative of three agencies and has grown to more than 40 organizations uniting to promote awareness around the issue of sexual assault. Wear your favorite denim, and join us at Brooklyn Borough Hall at 9:30am for a rally and march across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan's Foley Square, where we will gather together for a second rally.

Saturday, April 29: Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk-a-Thon


About the Event: Join us rain or shine for The Healing Center's 11th annual NYC Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk! Come walk across the Brooklyn bridge and rally near City Hall.

Friday, May 5: (Re)imagining Community-led Responses to End Sexual Violence


About the Event: To wrap up Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Womankind is hosting a virtual brunch talk with our community partners, and we'd like for you to join us! We will lay out the context of where our communities are at and reflect upon current community responses to sexual violence. Together, we will identify and mobilize towards concrete solutions and practices that are community-led and go beyond violence and criminalization.
