"I am a champion for Womankind because I worked as a volunteer on the Hotline and met so many women who were alone, scared, without resources and stuck in an abusive relationship.
I am also a board member of UN Women USA where addressing gender-based violence is one of the highest priorities, as it affects one out of three women globally. There are millions of women around the world who were trapped in their homes with their abusers during COVID that the United Nations called gender-based violence the “shadow pandemic”. Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation, and the immediate and long-term physical, sexual, and mental consequences for women and girls can be devastating, including death.
Thanks to Womankind’s committed professional and caring staff and volunteers for providing the culturally appropriate programs and support that violence survivors need to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence to make their own choices about their futures. Thank you for all you do for woman-kind."
