Associate Director, Community Programs

Reports to: Director, Community Programs

Womankind works with survivors of gender-based violence to rise above trauma and build a path to healing. Since 1982, we have been bringing critical resources and deep cultural competency to help survivors of all ages find refuge, recovery, and renewal from domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence. Through our programs, we offer access to a safe place to live, counseling, legal assistance, wellness activities, and so much more. Womankind is an expert in serving Asian communities, yet our services are valuable and available to all. Whether in our services or in our increasing advocacy and policy work, Womankind first centers the survivor by uplifting them to control their own lives and narratives.

Primary Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Community Programs reports to the Director, Community Programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for oversight of several areas of the agency, including our borough-based services and offices and our special projects. They will work with staff to improve service delivery across programs and supports the organization in formulating and implementing new programs/projects, The Associate Director, Community Programs will also be responsible to

Client Services, Program and Service Management (40%)

  • Oversight of programs, services and initiatives
  • Supervise with direct reports weekly
  • Work with managers to develop and implement programs
  • Assess and implement of staff training needs on a continual basis
  • Address issues that arise with the service provision to survivors and assist with supervision for advocates when necessary
  • Monitor and travel to various community sites for support
  • Provide ongoing assessment and fine-tuning of data collection programs, case file monitoring, and procedures

Organizational Development (20%)

  • Work with different organizational departments to ensure provision of prompt and professional services to all survivors of the agency
  • Support the senior team in overseeing the ongoing work efforts of all Womankind programs and personnel including administrative, funding, regulatory and legal obligations related to the agency
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Funding Oversight (20%)

  • Work with development on funding proposals and budgets
  • Handle funder reports, audits and site visits
  • Fiscal oversee of programs and sites
  • Ongoing communication with contract managers and implementation of any update on funding

External Communication (20%)

  • Participate in senior staff duties such as attendance at agency fundraising and/or publicity events
  • Represent the organization in external stakeholder meetings with CBOs, funders, local community members, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Deep commitment to the mission of the organization
  • At least 3 years’ experience with project management and supervision in the field of gender-based violence, crisis response, and immigrant population
  • Strategic thinking, skills in program planning and evaluation
  • Great communication skills – written and verbal, to individuals and groups
  • Comfort and familiarity with computers, e-mail, and word processing
  • Cultural sensitivity a must; Asian language ability preferred
Compensation Package

Womankind offers a competitive and outstanding compensation package. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Annual salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $65,000.
