Funds raised at the 2020 banquet will support Womankind's Pathways to Empowerment (P2E) Program to provide survivors with skill-building opportunities, support and connections to enable them to find employment, housing, and financial resources. Learn more about P2E here. Womankind has been the beneficiary of Mei Hua's generous fundraisers multiple times, most recently in 2016.


About The Mei Hua Society

The Mei Hua Society was organized in 2006 to explore and share knowledge about China and Chinese culture and to support worthy Asian organizations in the New York Metropolitan area. In 2016 Mei Hua was honored with a Proclamation from the Manhattan Borough President for outstanding service to the Asian community. More recently Mei Hua received Immigrant Social Services' "Spirit of Service Reward" for promoting the value of collective philanthropy and for raising more than $185,000 for deserving community groups.

Over the past 12 years Mei Hua's annual benefits have supported the following organizations: The Chinese-American Planning Council, Hamilton Madison House’s Chinese Mental Health Services for Seniors and City Hall Senior Adult Care Center, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, New York Asian Women’s Center (now Womankind), Music From China, Chen Dance Center, Chinatown Manpower Project, China Institute, Museum of Chinese in America, Apex for Youth, Asian American Arts Alliance, Alzheimer’s Association’s New York City Chapter Chinese Outreach Program, Homecrest Community Services, Immigrant Social Services, and CaringKind The Heart of Alzheimer’s Caregiving - Chinese Outreach Program.

Mei Hua’s membership social activities have included museum and gallery tours, Asian films and theatre, lectures on history/architecture/contemporary issues, and dining events. Membership is open to everyone. Currently there are no membership dues.
