Warm, Hearty Holiday Meals for Survivors of Violence
This holiday season, 40 families living in Womankind's two emergency residences, Rose House and Peace House, will not be celebrating in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. These survivors have escaped domestic violence, often times with their children in tow. Despite their circumstances, Womankind's Residential Program has always been committed to providing all residents with a warm and comforting holiday experience. This usually starts with the basis of all memorable holiday experiences: food! We pay for all ingredients to accommodate the many diverse Asian and Latino cuisines and religions of our residents, and together with staff, they cook up a hearty feast to enjoy and celebrate the end of the year. It’s a residential tradition.
This #GivingTuesday, YOU can support this lovely tradition at Rose House and Peace House. Help give residents—young, old, and everyone in between—warm and hearty meals throughout the holiday season. We're raising $1,000. Every dollar donated will be spent on ingredients. Help Womankind provide napa cabbage for homemade kimchi, Halal meat for biryani and palau, fresh Chinese vegetables and eggs for fried rice, and so much more. Your contribution, whether $5 or $100, will make a tremendous difference and a huge impact on these residents’ holiday experience. Be stuffed with gratitude, and help residents be stuffed from too much delicious food. It’s a win-win for everyone.
